* Senior Accountant

Position Title: Senior Accountant
Organization: Uganda National Women’s Fish Organization (UNWFO)
Location: Wakiso
Duration: 24 months

Overview: Canadian Crossroads International, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is launching the Scholars for Social Change (SSC) program. Through this exciting initiative, Crossroads will be providing 50 alumni of the Mastercard Foundations’ Scholars Program with the opportunity to work with Crossroads Partner Organizations and equip them with the tools and experiences necessary to drive meaningful changes in the community. The program will provide valuable on-the-job training, mentorship, and career planning support to empower this group to be advocates for gender equity and poverty alleviation, while building employability and essential career skills that they can take forward into their future careers. 

Our Partner and the position
Canadian Crossroads International are proud to be working with the Uganda National Women’s Fish Organization (UNWFO)! Established in 2019, UNWFO is a dynamic organization, on a mission to empower women and youth in sustainable fish production and trade. With a vision of economically empowered women and youth in a sustainable fisheries and aquaculture value chain, UNWFO serves as a national network fostering collaboration, capacity building, and advocacy for equitable empowerment in the fisheries sector. Join us in making a tangible difference in the lives of women and youth while contributing to the development of Uganda’s fisheries industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the organization’s financial systems and processes.
  • Develop governance and financial management processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Implement innovative projects, such as building dashboards for decision-making and contributing to pitches and concept notes.
  • Assess and analyze financial and business performance, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
  • Develop budgeting and financial literacy training for stakeholders and partners to enhance financial capacity.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of UNWFO

* IT & Communications Officer

Position Title: IT & Communications Officer
Organization: Uganda National Women’s Fish Organisation (UNWFO)
Location: Wakiso
Duration: 24 monthss

Are you a tech-savvy individual with a knack for communication? Join UNWFO as our IT and Communication Officer and help us bridge the digital divide in the fisheries sector! You’ll be responsible for developing a clear communication strategy, managing our website, and improving our marketing efforts. Additionally, you’ll leverage technology to enhance our operations, support small-scale fish farmers, and track their progress effectively. If you’re passionate about using technology to drive social impact and empower communities, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a clear communication strategy covering various mediums.
  • Manage and update the organization’s website to ensure relevant and engaging content.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote our products and services.
  • Utilize ICT to develop content for different mediums and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support small-scale fish farmers by profiling and creating a database to track progress effectively.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Communications, or related field.
  • Proficiency in website management and digital marketing tools.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creativity and innovation in developing engaging content.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to UNWFO’s values and mission.
